Ch-ch-ch-changes

November 28, 2011

I have said my farewells to England, some good-byes in Ottawa and now I’m finally settling in to my hometown. It’s been a wonderful whirlwind but I am so glad to be back in Hamilton. The city, and myself for that matter seem to have undergone a few changes since I last resided here. It’s more beautiful than I remembered. I know some folks out there may be like “%$#!” Hamilton is beautiful? And guys, it totally is. It has it’s creative, beautiful nooks just like any city and isn’t just about producing steel!

I’ll prove it to you. Perhaps in my next post? Ok, deal.

With that “I love Hamilton, so should you!” rant aside, life has been good to me. I’m back in school for the time being getting my Montessori diploma and currently applying to Teacher’s College and other programs for next year. All very exciting but not at all stress-free.

I’m definitely looking forward to Christmas. Whoever thought of a Christmas Gift registry at this super cute shop was a genius. I am guaranteed something of good taste from my boyfriend this year (not to imply that he has bad taste… just in case he was stuck on a gift for me. Yes,that sounds about right).

Something local…something wonderful…something Hamilton!

Hiya Monday

April 12, 2010

An overcast sky with rays of sun peaking through, teasing us with rain storms but giving us the perfect canvas for a Monday afternoon in Bushy Park. Flocks of deer running across our sandy path as we cycled to the other side. The stone walls of the park gave the illusion that it was a hidden treasure and the miles of beautiful nature it encompassed made it feel undiscovered. It felt like we were in the Secret Garden.

Thanks H VIII.

Plan on seeing these kiddies in Rome… cannot wait.

…it used to be so taboo to stay in on a *gasp* Friday night, but being twenty-three & already on route to being a gma, I find it entirely acceptable. Oh, how the seventeen year old me would be ashamed.

But unlike some, I do it right. Bottle of Chardonnay, Meg, Tom & some Seattle action with a  freshly taken out library book, HTKAM, to ease me in to a slumber. If that’s not a quality evening, I just don’t know what is.

Hi there, handsome.

Can’t wait to hit the London markets again this weekend… thank goodness for that Sunday job. Soon it will keep me off the streets & my $ will finally find a nice home in my wallet? Baha, ya like that will EVER happen, nice thought though.

What a phenomenal weekend. I accomplished & did so much! I went to a clothing swap in Shoreditch where I ended up finding some quality pieces! The lovely girl who was hosting it ended up being a Canadian! It seems these days I can never stray too far without bumping into one. Interviews went well? ahaha. I deaked out of my last one to go to a football game instead. Not that I need to justify myself, but it was a friends birthday & celebratory drinks would not have been in my hand if I had gone, I think I made the right choice.

Today was gorgeous, unlike my hungover self, so I ventured to Portobello Road. I love Nottinghill too much. I wish I could transport all my lovely opas & bfriend there so we could live in a bubble of Edwardian architecture, iron fences & markets full of old & new treasures.

To top off my day I rented some films from my local library, of which I’m going to watch as I curl up in my bed & shake off the ciders from last evening.

& my grey ASOS buckle wedges were restocked! So, naturally I bought a pair.

AWESOME weekend.

One fine city…

that is, if you can find a flat.

I never put much thought in to how hard it would be to find my home away from home. Oh, the horror stories & it’s only been one week of searching… (to be continued.)

Evidence that Spring has sprung at the park around the corner from me.

Local florist on the High St.

Spring came & paid us a visit last week!
If only it’s blue skies & mild weather stayed to play. It seems now that winter has returned to have its one last hurrah before it disappears for a few months.
Good riddance!
Riding my bicycle in the cold isn’t fun anymore, I want my cheeks to be sun burnt not wind burnt.

Múm is an Icelandic band I’ve just recently discovered. This video is a  nice farewell to winter.

With the transition of seasons among us, there is lots to be excited about!

I FINALLY get to see my beloved Phoenix in concert on the 29th! That band will forever remind me of summer nights, hay stacks and visine…

End of April brings me to Barcelona to see non other than my girl crush number one, Miss Zooey Deschanel performing in her band She & Him.

May brings me my freedom & a three week long vacay with my faja in & around our homeland.

Miss you.

So, Canada!

February 21, 2010

I’ve been realizing more and more how much I actually love Canada. I’ve kind of in way forgotten how fortunate I truly am to live in such a beautiful country. You tend to take it for granted as you make your ‘To Do & See’ list for other parts of the world. Everything else seems far grander when you compare it to sights you’ve lived around for years. This weekend I bumped in to a couple sporting their Olympic gear on the street. I don’t know what got in to me but I had this sudden surge of excitement! I think the couple thought I was completely mad with the words coming out of my mouth a mile a minute but it was nice to converse with them about our homeland. I love how Vancouver is hosting the Olympics this year, the build up of winning some medals leaves me in a constant state of anticipation for each winter event I watch. I LOVE IT!
With that said, I certainly do not miss our winters. The past few days in London have felt like Spring. There are even flowers springing up and budding! It’s February? How I love the weather here.

LFW. OMG. LOL.
Somerset House was beautiful, as for the crowds that it drew in, ugly. I didn’t have a ticket nor did the rest of the girls standing with me but I witnessed a few sneaking in to the BFC tent. It was complete chaos because of HoH, so much so that I had to leave. Girls can be so vicious! Everyone’s dark side came out yesterday. I’m glad I opted out of that fashion mob and went to a near by cafe to watch a live stream of Unique & HoH. Best seat in the house!

I found this article from The Global Herald very insightful. The way the world is going, bloggers are multiplying. I do agree that most fashion bloggers think they should have a front row seat, while in reality they should stand outside with the fashion mob like the rest of us. However there are a few blogs that I often frequent who I believe shouldn’t be classified as just a blogger but a journalist. I enjoy my daily dosage of the handful of blogs I have ‘favourited’ on my mac. It’s a very personal style of journalism I find. Posts aren’t filtered or edited, they’re very raw and unique to the so called blogger voicing their opinion.

With that said, check out these beauts from Holly Fulton!

Killerrrr shades

Love, love, love the envelope clutches & sky scraper geometric shaped dresses.

I want one of her awesome embellished necklaces! and some Holly Fulton earrings, please!

February 17, 2010

Whoa, so I’m a bit Alexa obsessed today, and well… have been every day this February for that matter. Thanks to British Vogue’s special feature on my girl crush number two.

HEY remember I mentioned I took a silk screening class last weekend, well it was more than ever I hoped for!

Not only did I come out with an awesomeeee canvas book bag I printed on myself, we had Afternoon Tea. The cutest, most delicious pastries I’ve eaten alongside tea in china tea cups. I felt so proper & girly. It was wonderful!

Thanks Papered Parlour!
